She’s also an incredibly experienced BDSM top and fire play professional who loves her craft. If you get the chance to see her at an event and want to feel the wonderful, relaxing, instantly sub-space effect of fire play for yourself, be sure to get in early. Once you see it done, everyone wants a go.

Where is the fire play workshop?

This workshop was held at Centaur Studios, a fabulous, ethereal and slightly trippy space in East London, with mood lighting, crazy murals and well equipped dungeon room, as well as every facility to recover you might need, including bathrooms, shower and kitchen to unwind. The decor at Centaur studios is instant ‘mood’. It’s a sort of Dante’s inferno, fae trap of luxury, interesting things and temptation. But never did a hellscape look so enticing! You can’t help but be instantly transported into a vibe of excitement.

Who goes to the fire play workshop?

The crowd were a mix of familiar faces and new people – some experienced kinksters and others looking to start their journey the right way- by learning! Everyone was really friendly, welcoming and inclusive. We had some great chats before, after and in between the sessions, and everyone had a happy vibe. Fire play is like that – it attracts responsible kinksters who want to be a part of a community, connect with others and build their skills to perform a good job.

Why learn fire play?

Despite the vanilla perception of BDSM and kink being all about inflicting pain, fire play is the very embodiment of responsible topping, creating a safe and sensory experience for their bottom or submissive, and demonstrating prowess, expertise and commitment to the craft that a simple spanking does not portray.

Our bodies detect different sensations- whether we see them as pain or fear is largely based on our expectations. Because fire play requires so much trust, having it performed on you by such an experienced professional practitioner means you can instantly slide into sub space, enjoying sensation that is novel and exciting yet comforting. It is also an amazing, showy act to watch, with fire wands, flash cotton, burning trails and foam in shapes.

Where can I perform fire play?

Your options to learn, practise and perform fire play at events are quite limited. There are a number of safety considerations, and most venues won’t allow it. As an extremely experienced professional, Secrets performs at a few events. The best place to learn and practise is at one of the workshops.

If you are looking to make your own event really special, contact Secrets to see how you can arrange for her to come perform and give your guests an amazing new experience.

What do I wear and bring?

Although there were a fair proportion of the crowd in BDSM wear or lingerie, there was no required dress code. Bringing drinks and snacks is allowed, and there is a Sainsbury’s a few doors down to pick up refreshments. An open mind and a willingness to listen and learn with enthusiasm were all that was needed.

In addition to the instruction on safety, technique and where to buy the equipment, there were a range of incredible Soy candles on sale. Anyone who wants to try wax play? Do NOT just grab a regular candle! Soy candles burn at a lower temperature so you do not maim your consenting play partner, come in beautiful colours, glow under UV light and were in skull shapes, pumpkins, pouring jugs and regular candle shapes to give you options.

The prices were also unbelievable. I got 3 UV reactive pumpkin candles for £7, and had to keep checking it wasn’t a mistake. This is one of the benefits of attending a workshop by someone who truly loves their craft- they tend to under-price everything because it is done with love.

Is this the event for you?
