What is the events calendar for?

Ever wondered when to plan the next party you want to host so it doesn’t conflict with a big, popular event? Or keep kicking yourself for not booking the Friday off for Pedestal, or being in the wait queue for Torture Garden tickets as your friends say you should come the day before it happens?

Well fear no more, lovely libertines, sexy swingers and kindly kink people! For now we will have the unicornhunting.blog calendar to refer to!

What does the London Events Calendar do?

London is a busy place, with a lot on, and sometimes it can be hard to narrow down what the big, special events are from all the background noise of private parties, new start-up hopefuls and things that might just have a few folk show up (and bless you, baby ducklings, we all start somewhere! It is an art to hone! Don’t give up!)

This calendar is designed to help you organise your party life. So link to it, check it, download it, do your thing.

Which events are listed?

Events featured here need to meet a few criteria, as we hunt for utopia, so you will find they all:

Do not have differential gender pricing

It might seem like a feminist backlash against the pay gap, but it really isn’t. Who was it who said, ‘If you aren’t the customer, you are the product?’

Beyond the complexity in pricing different gender identities (of which there now are many) it is inherently unfair, and sets up an expectation and entitlement in those who pay the higher fee. In our quest for utopia, we would hope that everyone is valued as an individual, and is not stereotyped as dangerous, problematic, likely to be a creep, or a plaything, sexual accessory or harmless bunny based on their gender identity. The world has moved on. Events that haven’t don’t get listed here.

Equitable pricing, such as early bird discounts or low-income discounts are encouraged.

Are for everyone

If the event is not for everyone, I have not included it. Though specialist events for specific gender identities, sexualities, ethnicities, kinks and ages certainly can have value, the events I have listed should be welcoming to all. This includes not having differential pricing for different genders, ethnicities and sexualities.

Events will, of course, each have their own rules on acceptable attire and behaviour in the venue, and this should be checked in advance.

Do not require membership

Although there are various legal and tax reasons why some venues and events run as members clubs, the events featured do not require you to apply for membership in advance, with photo or link to your social media so they can decide if you look the part.

Though some events do require you to be vetted if you cannot be vouched for by one of their regulars, this is not intended to be an opportunity to exclude people based on prejudice. It is more to check understanding of consent, how to conduct yourself well at an event and make other guests comfortable. Events that say they select on looks rarely have the best looking mix of people anyway in my experience, and are also highly based on the fetishes and insecurities of whoever is doing the choosing. In our quest for utopia, there must be a space where everyone can belong. My tastes are not your tastes, and that is fine. There is no need or expectation to ever engage with those we do not wish to, but we each have our own preferences, and we do not need to narrow that to that which is ‘socially expected’ to be desirable.

The act of being selected in this way is just a trick to make you feel special.

If you have membership for a venue or event, they will likely be updating you of events anyway

Have an expectation of at least 30 people

Though small events, private events and new events can be great fun, if we are opening this invitation to the world, there needs to be an expectation that this is going to be a fairly large event

Are not a ‘first’ event

All events have first events. Some even have a second event. All events have teething issues when they start, and it’s a steep learning curve. I am trying to bring a calendar of popular, established and high quality ongoing events to the calendar, without making it biggest equals best. Truth is, big events will draw a lot of your regular crowd, whether you are looking for somewhere to go or wanting to plan your own event.

Are a good event, as far as I know

The calendar includes events I’ve been to and reviewed, some I didn’t review, and some I’ve not been to yet that I hear great things about. My experience may not be your experience. So disclaimer here. The events at the very least, should have a safety plan in place, to make sure everyone is taken care of in regards to personal safety, security, mental health, fire risks and what to do if something goes wrong. These are not private parties with a few friends. They are real events.

Are not a daily or weekly event or venue

Many events and venue run every weekend or even through the week. In order to keep things clear, these have not been included. You can go to them pretty much any time.

Are in Greater London

If you live outside of London, your opportunities are probably more limited and easier to keep on top of. Though there are some great venues and events further afield, this calendar is restricted to just London.

Are in some way, unconventional or not vanilla

I do what I do, and this is my world. I’m not looking to be the next Time Out. Events are not all play events, but focus in some way on, and appeal to, the swinger, kink, LGBT or alternative crowd, or some mixture thereof.

Is the calendar exhaustive?

Absolutely not. I have tried to gather some basic information for you, but my means to ensure it is correct and up to date are limited. Please explore the information from the event providers and check the details on ticket sales. I will be adding more events as time goes on.

If there is an event you feel is missing or the information is not correct, please drop me a DM at my IG

If your event is listed here and you would like me to link it to your full promotional information, please IG me too.
