Pride month- it’s that time of year again, when everyone from Starbucks to Nike put rainbows on their logos.

There is no judge who decides who gets one. Is it a symbol of solidarity or an appeal to a marketing segment? Is it just virtue signalling?

The same companies who trash human rights and fund senators who push back equality by decades will happily be decked out in rainbows this month.

Are we just rainbow for Pride Month?

At unicornhunting.blog, we try to campaign for equality and inclusion year round and portray the real people and real issues of LGBTQIA people on the kink and swinger scenes, without exoticism and distortion that is so prevalent in the mainstream media. And we do it for free. Free to them, free to you and free to events that are inclusive. So it’s not just rainbow capitalism. It’s not even rainbow anti-capitalism.

If we seek to create our own utopia, or even just a world that is better than the one we are presented with, there needs to be acceptance, understanding and inclusion for everyone. That includes those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and more. Even if you don’t identify as any of these, you can be under the other meaning of A- allies. You can use your ‘safe’ position in mainstream society to be a more powerful voice for inclusivity.

We all come to the scene with prejudices and bias we are not even aware of at the time, so all we can hope for is to learn and grow as we explore our adventures in creating ourselves a new utopia in the worlds of ENM, kink, swinging and more. We all have the potential to grow, learn, change and understand. Even with things we are initially ‘uncomfortable’ with, don’t understand or seek to rationalise based on our own lived experience.

There is no better way to come to accept any ‘type’ of person than to spend time with a lot of them, and grow to learn what makes them wonderful. If we form all our opinions based on newspapers, TV, films and the internet, we remain malleable to the powers which have agendas of division.

So, hell yeah, let’s have a rainbow for June for Unicorn Hunting Blog.
